Ticket policy
Unless clearly stipulated at purchase, ticket sales are final: no exchanges or refunds. Admission after the event begins is solely at the discretion of the theatre. If an event is cancelled with no replacement, this ticket may be refunded less service fees. Unless otherwise indicated, children under 2 will not be admitted into the theatre. The Centre may exclude or remove, without refund, any person whose behaviour it deems inappropriate. The use of recording or communication devices is strictly prohibited. Programming and artists are subject to change without notice. Subscription tickets offer free exchanges by phone with 24 hour notice. All artists, programs, times, dates, and pricing are subject to change without notice. Please note that we reserve the right to change single ticket prices dependent on demand & discounts may be restricted for certain performances.
By purchasing tickets at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts, I acknowledge that there may be photographs and videos taken of me during my visit to the Segal Centre, and I consent to the use of these photographs or videos in future Segal Centre communications.
Privacy policy
The Segal Centre is committed to protecting the personal information you provide when you buy tickets to any of our performances, subscribe to our season or newsletter, enroll in our academy or make a donation.
At The Segal Centre we value you and respect your privacy. We recognize that we must maintain and use your personal information responsibly. We have created this privacy policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy and security, and to advise you about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided by you by telephone, through our website, by mail or other means (electronic or otherwise). Our policy provides you with the ability to opt out of providing personal information that you do not wish to provide and to access, change or remove any of your personal information which has been collected by us. The Segal Centre will not collect, use or disclose your personal information other than in compliance with this policy.
By providing any of your personal information to The Segal Centre, including information obtained by us during your visits to or use of our website, other, social networking websites and web pages such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, you hereby agree to all of the terms and conditions of this policy and consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy.
Information Collected by The Segal Centre
Personal information we collect may include:
- Identifiers and contact information, such as your name, email and postal address, telephone number, photographs or videos or account information
- Demographic information and interests, such as your age, gender, occupation, languages, types of activities you participate in and other interests
- Contacts and Connections, such as the names of contacts and their connection to you, and your affiliations with companies, institutions, foundations and other organizations
- Transactional information, such as bank account information, payment card details, purchase and donation amounts and purchase and donation history
- Browsing activity on our Site, such as pages and events viewed, account login events, preferences, and IP addresses if the IP address identifies you as an individual;
- Geolocation information collected when you use our website;
- Any other information you provide to us.
How Information Is Collected
Directly from you
We will collect personal information from you when buying tickets to events, making a donation, signing up for our newsletter, by communicating with us by telephone, e-mail or otherwise, or by introducing or posting any text, image, video, audio, or any information, content or other materials through any of our social networking sites. Because of these actions, you might supply us with personal information, such as your name, date of birth, e-mail and postal addresses, telephone number, credit card information and financial information and in certain circumstances, your comments, suggestions, ideas, opinions and individual .
Through Online Technologies
Each time you visit our website, information may automatically be obtained and compiled:: your internet protocol (IP) address and the domain name registry information associated with that IP address; identification of your internet browser, operating system and hardware platform you are using; the date and time of your visit; the name and address (URL) of the web page you viewed immediately prior to accessing our website; your entire query entered into a search engine which led you our site. This information may be stored in our log files.
Additionally, the complete record of your actions at our site, including all pages visited, the time spent on each page, the information sent or received and the names of all files uploaded or downloaded is collected. This tracking information may be compiled by us in the aggregate and be made available to third parties in order to identify demographic data regarding our users.
The technologies we use may include:
- Cookies, which are small data files that are saved on your computer when you visit a website so that information can be saved between visits, such as your login credentials or language preferences. For example, cookies allow you to log in quickly when you visit our site. In certain cases, this information is only kept during the session and is deleted when you close your browser. In other cases, the information is stored on your hard drive and, upon your next visit to the site, the cookies are used to recall such information. Cookies may store a variety of information, including, a unique user ID that can be used to track the pages of the site you have visited and the number of times that you view a particular page or other items on the site, log in or registration information and your preferences and your transaction history, where available.

This allows us to understand your online behaviour, monitor our email delivery, and provide you with interest-based advertising. These tools also allow our third-party tracking tools to gather information, such as your IP address, and provide this back to us in an anonymized, aggregate form (i.e. in a manner that prevents us from identifying you personally). Aggregate information refers to personal information compiled and expressed in a summary form where no personal identifiers are included.
- Other technologies, such as analytics engines, which pull usage data from multiple sources and help manage and collect this data to use for personalization or customization of content and other methods to gain insights into our customers' needs and preferences.
Third Party Social Networks
The Segal Centre has installed on its website various social media plug-in protocols. When you use one of these social media plug-in protocols, The Segal Centre will have access to this information as well.
Facebook and other third-party social networks that provide interactive plug-ins to enable social network features (e.g., to connect to Facebook) may use cookies to gather information on your use of its site. How this collected data is used by a third party is dependent on the privacy policy of the social network which is available on the appropriate parties' website. The Segal Centre encourages you to review the privacy policies of such third parties as well.
We may also obtain and use analytical and statistical information from third-party social networks to help us measure performance and effectiveness of content we display on social networks, for example, by measuring impressions and clicks on the content we promote.
How Your Information Is Used
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- mail your event tickets
- send you subscription renewal forms
- provide you with access to your account on our website
- provide you with our newsletters
- conduct financial transactions
- notify you of special events, changes to our service, performances and promotions
- anticipate and resolve problems with your service
- solicit financial support and ticket purchases

How your information is shared
Your personal information is not shared, rented, exchanged or otherwise disclosed to any outside third party except where authorized and or required by law and as detailed in this Privacy Notice.
Your personal information may in some cases be transferred to jurisdictions outside Canada, to service providers or affiliated organizations. As a result, you understand that your personal information will be subject to the laws of other jurisdictions than Canada and may be available to foreign government authorities under lawful orders and laws applicable in such jurisdictions. By accessing our website, donating funds, responding to surveys or emails or otherwise providing information to us in connection with our programming you are providing your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as set out in this policy. We will we will make best efforts to obtain consent when we want to use personal information for a new purpose or for a purpose other than those stated at the time of collection in this policy or in the terms and conditions of a specific program, event, fundraising campaign, service or survey that you applied to, signed up for, or participated in. Community guidelines
Welcome to the Segal Centre community!
The mission of the Segal Centre for Performing Arts is to inspire and strengthen individuals and communities through the transformative power of the arts by providing English professional theatrical productions and other community programs that celebrate and explore Jewish cultural identity and the diversity of voices and perspectives in society.
Our social media platforms are designed to be a safe space for sharing thoughts and questions about our theatre productions and season programming. We actively monitor our platforms to ensure a respectful environment that encourages feedback and open communication. It’s essential for us to provide a positive and accessible experience for all our followers.
To help everyone enjoy our community, we ask that when you post, you keep in mind
the following:
We don’t allow defamatory, indecent, offensive, profane, discriminatory, misleading, unlawful, or threatening comments.
Personal attacks, name-calling, trolling, and abuse will not be tolerated.
Spamming, posting promotional material, or posting links to third party websites is not permitted.
We reserve the right to delete comments at our discretion and block any repeat offenders. We will remove content that is discriminatory, fraudulent, deceptive, spam, or misleading.
Respect that other people in the community have had different life experiences and may have a different perspective to yours. We welcome different viewpoints.
Our community is a public place. Don’t post personal information that you would not be comfortable sharing with a stranger. We recommend that you don’t post any information that may identify you or anyone else, such as your address, email address, or phone number.

Script submission policy
WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO
We are the heart of English theatre in Montreal. The Segal Centre has proudly commissioned, developed, and produced new Canadian plays that have gone on to exciting futures. These include:
Sherlock Holmes
The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical
Belles Soeurs: The MusicalProm Queen: The Musical
The Hockey Sweater: A Musical
Though we don’t actively solicit new scripts, we are always on the lookout for plays that serve our mandate and will engage, challenge, and excite our audiences.
In our programming, we are specifically interested in:
- inventive new musicals with Canadian content
- bold, contemporary works, notably ones with Jewish themes
- classic plays that remain fresh and relevant
- crowd-pleasing comedies that are witty and relevant
- theatrical adaptations of beloved stories from other genres
- plays of all kinds that actively engage with the diversity of our community
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
If you wish to submit a script to us for consideration, please only include the following:
- Name, contact info and brief bio of playwright
- A one-paragraph synopsis of your play
- A cast breakdown
- An explanation of the play’s previous development/production history, and why you think it would be a good fit for the Segal Centre
- The first 10 pages of the script
- Note: Musical submissions should also include a link to an online source of selected songs

WHAT TO EXPECT
We will send an acknowledgement of your script submission so you’ll definitely know that we got it. We generally cannot offer dramaturgical feedback and will only contact those writers whose scripts we’re interested in.
Due to the amount of submissions we receive and how busy we can get during our production season, responses can take up to several months. We thank you very much for your patience.

Covid policy
As Quebec now has no mask mandate in effect, and as the CNSST have removed any restrictions for performing arts workers, as such face coverings are no longer be required for employees and guests of the Segal Centre except under these specific circumstances:
- If you’ve tested positive for COVID, you must continue to wear a mask for 10 days following a positive test result.
- If you live with someone who is positive, you must also wear a mask for 10 days from the date of the positive test of the family member.
- If you are attending a mandatory masking performance - this will be marked on the show notes when buying your ticket. You will also receive an email reminder about it before your performance.
The following measures are in place for all individuals arriving on our premises:
- A “COVID Officer” is on duty at all times ensuring that all safety protocols are being followed
- Hand sanitizing stations throughout the Segal Centre
- Increased cleaning, disinfection, and sanitizing of all public areas
- The air circulation system has been optimized.
We continue to recommend the wearing of face coverings and will continue to make them available at our entrances. This policy change will apply to the Academy camps and will remain in place throughout the summer, until further notice. In this ever-evolving context, these policies are subject to change. This is consistent with the commitments we have made with our artists, staff, and audiences to ensure their safety through to the end of the season.
Should you be exhibiting any symptoms, please stay home. Symptoms may include:
- Fever
- Sudden loss of smell with no nasal congestion, with or without loss of taste
- Cough (new or worsening)
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty breathing
- Sore throat
- Runny nose nasal congestion (stuffy nose) for no known reason
- Headache
- Profound fatigue
- Muscle aches (not related to physical exertion)
- Significant loss of appetite
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomachache
- Diarrhea
