Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Drawing from a team of nearly 100 experienced trainers each performing with their beloved family pets, SuperDogs™ has been entertaining audiences across Canada and around the world for over 40 years! This virtual Sunday @ the Segal panel brings together trainers and creators of SuperDogs: the Musical: Leonard Chase, Danièle Pichette, and Amy White, to discuss what it takes to train dogs for the stage and answer the question on everyone’s minds: “Just how do you put on a musical with 24 dogs?” Our 2021-2022 season host Sarah Deshaies (CJAD radio) will moderate in her signature warm and insightful style.

Leonard Chase
Upon seeing his first SuperDogs™ show in 1990, Leonard Chase (a.k.a. Chase) immediately recognized the value and potential of this ground-breaking entertainment experience. Partnering with the show’s founder, Herb Williams, Chase brought his considerable business, marketing, and advertising background to the production, not to mention his recognizable face as a television personality in and around Montreal, and got to work developing the show as a cross between a Broadway play and a major sporting event. In addition, he was instrumental in the development of the ESPN television series SuperDogs, SuperJocks and a contributing writer on the feature film Daniel and the SuperDogs. In 2021, he co-wrote SuperDogs: The Musical with composer John Halpin, which will premiere in Montreal at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in December 2021, then tour across Canada in 2022. A successful competitive swimmer in his youth, Chase continues to bring his passion for athleticism and his love of family entertainment to every aspect of the SuperDogs™ shows.

Danièle Pichette
Danièle Pichette is an internationally recognized Trick Dog Coach and works as an animal wrangler on film and TV sets. She has been a SuperDogs™ cast member since 2014, appearing at shows with her very talented Jack Russell Terriers. Danièle also competes with them in Disc, Agility, and Dock Diving but during their days off she enjoys hiking, playing, and cuddling with them just as much. She firmly believes in working as a team, with the greatest respect for every dog’s will and well-being.

Amy White
Amy’s personal and professional lives have always revolved around her love for, and commitment to, dogs. Amy has been performing with SuperDogs™ for over two decades. As a SuperDogs™ cast member she and her eight SuperDogs have entertained millions of fans live and on television across North America. Amy has also been Director of Communications for the Toronto Humane Society, Communication Manager at Earth Ranger, publisher and editor of Dogs, Dogs, Dogs, and an obedience instructor since 1997. She is currently Director of Operations and General Manager at SuperDogs™.
