Broadway royalty, up close – and a little off-script

Step inside the world of Broadway like never before… and don’t expect it to behave.

For one week only, David Yazbek one of the most decorated Broadway composers of our time takes the stage at the grand piano for a rare, intimate performance that’s as witty as it is musical.

From The Band’s Visit to Tootsie and The Full Monty, Yazbek shares songs, stories, detours, and deadpan observations from a life in theatre, weaving together music and conversation into an evening that’s funny, surprising, and irresistibly personal part concert, part storytelling, and very much not a lecture.

A winter evening in New York – without leaving Montreal.

Featuring music from:

The Band’s Visit,
The Full Monty,
Dead Outlaw,
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,
and more!

 LISA'S NOTE

"This is a rare chance to be in the room with one of Broadway’s most original voices, close enough to feel how the music is made. It is exactly the kind of moment theatre lovers talk about long after it’s over."

DAVID YAZBEK: MY BROADWAY

Meet the Mind Behind Broadway

Tony®, Grammy®, and Emmy®-winning composer David Yazbek is one of Broadway’s most distinctive and influential voices, celebrated for his sharp wit, emotional depth, and irresistible melodies. A composer, lyricist, and performer, he has created some of musical theatre’s most beloved works, including The Band’s Visit (winner of 10 Tony Awards), Tootsie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and The Full Monty. He is also co-producer of the album Buena Vista Social Club and the creator of several acclaimed albums, including The Laughing Man, Tock, Damascus!, Tape Recorder, and Evil Monkey Man.

Yazbek’s talents extend far beyond the stage. He has written for television and film, contributing original compositions and scripts to shows such as Boardwalk Empire, Late Night with David Letterman (for which he won an Emmy), and the iconic Carmen Sandiego theme song. His career moves seamlessly between theatre, television, and recording, marked by a signature style that fuses jazz, rock, humor, and heart.
