Reopening Campaign

Dear friends,

We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

It’s hard to believe that six months have passed since we closed our doors and suspended our programming. Since then, we have risen to the challenge of finding new ways to connect with our community through the arts. Through online programming and out-of-the-box thinking, we have created a sense of togetherness, provided entertainment, reached new audiences, and kept our Academy students inspired and engaged.

Like many other cultural organizations, we have seen significant losses due to COVID-19. In addition to ticket revenues, we have experienced cuts to other important sources of funding. The Segal Centre was among the first public spaces in Montreal to close, and we will be among the last to reopen because gatherings are inherent to our work. We are eager to start producing for stage once again, and we are planning a gradual reopening, while taking into account all the necessary safety precautions.

Over the past 13 years, you—our patrons, donors, and subscribers—have been our lifeline, allowing us to emerge as the leading English-language theatre in Montreal, internationally recognized for the quality and the calibre of its productions, while remaining a beloved cultural institution in our community. You have supported many important initiatives: accessibility and inclusion, arts education, and Jewish programming.

As we look forward to our much-anticipated return, we turn to you, our greatest champions. Now more than ever is the time to support the Segal Centre.

Your gift will ensure that we continue to blossom and return to the stage with the kind of enriching and exciting productions you have come to love. It will help us reengage artists that are out of work, continue online programming, and develop your next favourite production.

We are living through a moment of challenge and change. In times like these, great art brings us together, fosters community, and shines a light on who we are and could be. Your support will ensure the Segal Centre emerges from this extended intermission brighter than ever.

With heartfelt thanks,
