Now in its 16th year, the Segal Centre’s Annual Musical Fundraiser is an incredible initiative co-chaired by Carrie Mazoff and Elissa Lifson. It puts brave volunteer participants centre stage, benefiting the Segal Centre's commitment to world-class English theatre, Jewish culture, and arts education. This year’s show will spotlight the work of music icon Billy Joel, featuring some of his greatest hits.

SYNOPSIS 

A nostalgic evening where mismatched lovers, restless dreamers, and familiar faces find their lives illuminated through the timeless music of Billy Joel. It’s nine o’clock on a Saturday, and the regular crowd shuffles in… but tonight, the piano man is nowhere to be found. On the bar’s final night (though only the manager knows it) the regulars gather with their hopes and regrets. Two newly engaged couples may be destined for heartbreak. Paul still chases the novel he swears he’ll write. John at the bar dreams of stardom just out of reach. As the night winds toward last call, the question lingers: where will everyone be when the music stops? Everyone has a story. Everyone has a song. And tonight, under the glow of the bar lights, Billy Joel’s music is the soundtrack to them all.

Every year, the Segal Centre’s peer-to-peer fundraiser shines a light on our most loyal supporters – you!

Brave amateur performers and community members take over the Segal Centre stage and sing their hearts out to benefit the arts. Participants rehearse for months alongside industry professionals while raising money to sponsor their performance.

Thanks to the tremendous dedication of our volunteers, and the generosity of our patrons and donors, the Segal Centre has emerged as the leading English-language theatre in Montreal, internationally recognized for the quality of its productions, while remaining a beloved cultural institution in our community. Your support will ensure that we continue to develop dynamic and impactful theatre; pave the way for important accessibility and inclusion initiatives; and provide one-of-a-kind arts education through our renowned Segal Academy, where kids get their start in the arts.
