Diggers

Feb 01, 2024 - Feb 17, 2024 | Studio

A Black Theatre Workshop and Prairie Theatre Exchange co-production

Diggers by Donna-Michelle St. Bernard

World Premiere!
There are those who stand apart by the merit of the work they do – whether they want to or not. Abdul and Solomon introduce newbie Bai to the intricacies and dignity of gravedigging for the town down the hill. But when illness hits the town, the three must make the best of a bad situation as their workload increases and their support from the community diminishes. Full of song, laughter, tears, and beautiful humanity, Diggers is a tribute to essential workers.

Black Out Performance

Don't miss the Diggers Black Out Performance on February 11 2024. Black Out Performance is a special matinee dedicated to celebrating Black-identifying patrons and offering them a space to enjoy, reflect on, and discuss the play as a community.

Black Theatre Workshop had the joy to witness the power of Black Out Nights during its co-curated run of Is God Is at the National Arts Centre, and is proud to host the first event of its kind for one of their mainstage productions.

"A concept birthed by Slave Play playwright Jeremy O. Harris, the inaugural Black Out Night took place on September 18, 2019."

BTW invites Black audiences to reserve their seats now for an afternoon of connection and artistry.
