ACCESSIBILITY
The Segal Centre is committed to making our performances and events accessible to all. We offer several services to help our patrons feel welcomed and comfortable. We are always striving to make improvements on how we can make your visit more convenient and are happy to receive feedback.
Please inform a Box Office Associate if you require special assistance or seating when booking your tickets.

FOR PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY

The ramp is equipped with handrails.

There are automatic door-opening buttons on both the inside and outside of the building.

There is a single set of doors at the top of the ramp.

The door can open up to 68 inches wide for easy entrance for wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, etc.

This entrance is currently closed outside of show times.

The staircase is partially equipped with handrails.
-
There are two sets of heavy double doors at the top of the stairs.

The doors are not equipped with automatic door openers.

The doors can open up to 56 inches wide for easy entrance for wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, etc.

Please let Box Office know when booking your tickets if you are low-mobility or if you require assistance so that they can book seats that don’t require the use of stairs.

There are two removable seats should you need to remain in your wheelchair.

Our Front of House staff can assist you in moving from your wheelchair to a theatre seat.

Low-mobility patrons may enter the Sylvan Adams Theatre from the side entrance just past coat check.

All floors of the Annex can be accessed by elevator.

The ArtLounge, CinemaSpace, rehearsal lab, and dressing rooms are accessible by staircase (equipped with handrails).

Wheelchairs and walkers will be stored safely in the coat check corridor under constant usher supervision.

Your ticket stub will be attached to your wheelchair or walker to ensure it is returned to its rightful owner.

An usher will return your wheelchair or walker directly to your seat following the performance, so please remain seated.

An usher can also return your wheelchair or walker directly to your seat at intermission, if requested in advance.

A wheelchair is available for use on-site, on a first-come, first-served basis.
PARKING

Free parking is readily available on the streets around the Segal Centre for Performing Arts. Please take note of certain restricted hours as indicated on street signs.

We highly recommend that any person with reduced mobility be dropped off at the ramp on Westbury prior to parking.

There are two spots reserved for disabled parking permit holders by the entrance on Westbury. However, they fill up very quickly.
WASHROOMS

They are clearly marked next to the staircase closest to the Box Office Counter.

There are wheelchair-accessible stalls in both the men's and women’s washrooms.

There are no automatic doors.

The sink and soap dispensers may be out of reach for patrons in wheelchairs.

One washroom is in the corridor next to the CinemaSpace.

One washroom is in the corridor next to the kitchen.

There are no wheelchair-accessible stalls in either washroom.

ASL-INTERPRETED PERFORMANCES
The Segal Centre offers American Sign Language interpretation for select performances.

AUDIO-DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES
The Segal Centre is thrilled to be offering audio-described performances in collaboration with Connec-T, an organization aiming to make culture accessible to all. These performances will allow patrons to use the “Mobile Connect” app on their personal phone to hear enhanced sound and a detailed audio-description of the performance narrated live. TACTILE VISIT
Our audio-described performances include a tactile visit before the show. Immerse yourself in a hands-on exploration of the set and costumes. Our knowledgeable guides will be on hand to assist you, providing descriptive information about the elements you encounter. Gain deeper insights into the production's artistic vision as you interact with the various components that bring the show to life on stage.

RELAXED PERFORMANCES
The Segal Centre offers relaxed performances for select shows. A relaxed performance is designed to make the theatre space more comfortable and welcoming to audience members who will benefit from a more relaxed sensory experience and casual environment, including (but not limited to) patrons living with Autism, a sensory processing disorder, or a learning disability. This performance is for patrons of all abilities, other audience members who may benefit from relaxed performances include young children, people who experience anxiety, or people who are not comfortable with the conventions of a traditional theatre space. There will be a more relaxed attitude to noise and movement within the theatre during the performance. Some minor production changes may be made to reduce the intensity of light, sound and other potentially startling effects. Additional support tools are also available, such as visual stories, virtual tours, and familiarization visits.

SENSORY SENSITIVITY

The Segal Centre is a scent-free environment. Scented products such as hair spray, perfume, and deodorant can trigger reactions such as respiratory distress and headaches. Out of respect for our guests and artists, we kindly ask that you refrain from using scented products before attending a performance.

Certain performances may feature strobe lights, bright lights, use of theatrical haze, loud noises/music, foul language, adult themes, etc. Please refer to individual show pages for full production details, including run time and intermission information.

The Segal Centre is climate controlled, however temperatures may at times vary.

Certain productions will have a quiet space for patrons feeling overwhelmed by the production. However, should you at any time feel like you need to step out please do not hesitate to speak to one of our friendly Front of House staff who will be happy to assist you in any way they can.
SUPPORT PERSONS
We offer ½ priced tickets (subject to availability) to support persons who accompany patrons with special needs. We consider a support person to be an individual hired or chosen by a person with special needs to provide services or assistance with communication, mobility, personal care, medical needs, or access to goods or services.
The Segal Centre is also a partner of the programs Access 2 card and the Carte accompagnement loisir, both of which offer one free admission for the attendant of a person living with a disability (upon presentation of the card).
DISCOUNTED TICKETS
In addition to our Support Persons, Student, Senior, Group, Class Act, Thursday Night Out, Subscriber, ASL, and Rush discounts, certain productions offer additional discounts for low-income and marginalized groups.
