SYNOPSISThe story unfolds one night in 1938 Vienna in the office of the famous Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. Austria, like Anschluss, has just been annexed by Germany and the city is under Nazi occupation. Due to his significant status as a professional, Freud has the opportunity to flee the country by signing some fraudulent documents.
A gravely ill Freud hesitates fleeing despite the fact that he is Jewish, his daughter desperately trying to convince him and being harassed by an SS officer. Suddenly he is visited by a mysterious stranger who is to spend the night in his office. The visitor will make him question his beliefs, the relationship between science and religion and the existence of God.
The play was very well received and a huge success, receiving three 1994 Molière prizes in France including Best Actor, Theatrical Revelation and Best Show.
Produced in 1998 at the Bic by the Théâtre Les gens d’en bas, this production, starring Frédéric Desager has been touring Quebec for several years.
