SideMart Theatrical Grocery presents
*TRYING FOR THE KINGDOM*
"With broken hearts we have travelled, to seek and to love in the desperate streets of this city.."
Drawing inspiration from the confounding, the seedy and the beautiful - all the things that make cities go - and from the art and the conflicts that marked the decade of our births (the 1980s), SideMart Theatrical Grocery presents a collective creation, an album/play about why we come to cities and why we stay. Taking cues from the unpredictable and propulsive music of Iggy Pop, the marginalized characters in the songs of Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground, the exciting and non-narrative music and visuals from the likes of David Byrne and Laurie Anderson, Trying For The Kingdom is an original one act in it's first incarnation: an electric show that will not sit still.
Feb 23-25 & 27 8pm
ALL SHOWS PAY WHAT YOU CAN. ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO CANADIAN RED CROSS AND MÉDICINS SANS FRONTIÈRES
