Wandering Stars is the Segal Centre’s exciting, multicultural and multilingual touring troupe composed of young adults between the ages of 16 to 22 years old from varied backgrounds. Each “Wandering Star” receives training in acting, singing and dancing from the Segal Centre Academy’s professional teacher-artists. The company’s vision is helping young emerging artists promote a message of cultural understanding through the performing arts.
After its successful run in the summer of 2010, the Segal Centre for Performing Arts’ Academy is proud to present, for a second year, the original musical In Transit, performed by its Wandering Stars. The production will be touring Montreal and its surrounding areas with their English presentation, from July 25th to August 5th, in summer camps, public parks and community organizations.
Directed by Elsa Perez and designed by Ben Gerlis with music by Elan Kunin and additional songs by Nick Burgess, In Transit is set in an airport lounge where after a flight to Montreal is cancelled, drama and chaos ensue among the passengers. Post-show interactive talk-backs are a key feature of every Wandering Stars performance, providing an opportunity for artists and audiences alike to share their experience of the show with each other, and to discuss issues relevant to young audiences.
