Meet the Academy Staff

Gisèle Rucker
Academy Director
Gisèle Rucker believes art education powers child development and engenders a habit of creativity where we continue to participate in art activities. This habit of creativity sustains and renews our human energy. Gisèle was a principal with the Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation for over 16 years; her last title was Executive Director. At the Foundation, she developed and directed community development programs in community arts, heritage and environmental conservation and economic development, like the Urban Issues Program which supported 60 community development projects in low-income urban neighbourhoods across Canada. Under her stewardship, the Foundation supported McGill University’s National Arts and Youth Demonstration Program, a 3-year research study, whose findings showed conclusive evidence that children who participate in arts activities gained greater self-awareness, abilities in problem solving and achieved better life chances.
