The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present this unique, one of a kind festival – “A Salute To The Italian Community” – as a highlight of the Segal Centre’s joint presentation with Saputo of Over the River and Through the Woods, an Italian comedy by playwright Joe Dipietro on stage April 19 - May 10.

“Our first ever partnership with Saputo presented us with a wonderful opportunity to reach beyond our doors and build new bridges.” said Bryna Wasserman, Artistic and Executive Director of the Segal Centre.

Led by patrons of honour, Senator Marisa Ferretti Barth; Senator Leo Kolber; The Honourable Consul General of Italy, Francesco Paolo Venier; and The Honourable Consul General Of Israel, Yoram Elron, this “Salute to the Italian Community” will feature nightly presentations of Over the River and Through the Woods; Italian films at the Segal Centre’s CinemaSpace and tributes to this city’s most beloved Italian artists.

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts was founded in June, 2007, inspired by the vision of Leanor and Alvin Segal, who believe that “culture creates bridges of understanding and respect between people.” To this extent, “A Salute to the Italian Community” is an exciting outreach initiative, one that promises to make full use of the Segal Centre’s new and state of the art facilities. The Segal Centre houses the award-winning Segal Theatre, the Academy of Performing Arts, CinemaSpace, the Studio and the award-winning Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre. It has, in a very short time, become one of Montreal’s premiere performing arts institutions.
