DER LUFTMENSH (The Man Of Air), France, 2006, 52 mins., Directed by Mariette Feltin
Rafaël Goldwaser, the founder of Strasburg’s Der LufTeater invites us to reflect on the transmission of Yiddish culture, far from the beaten track of Yiddish culture. We are taken on a journey from a Strasburg (France) theatre group questioning the value of this culture, to Israel where Yiddish was rejected in favour of creating a new, strong identity, and then to Canada where Yiddish remains an integral and indispensable element of Judaism.
Rafaël Goldwaser and the film's director, Mariette Feltin, will be on hand to discuss this fascinating documentary.
