Centre Updates
Ben's Pen / March 2010
Here it is. The breakdown, the goods…the stuff that matters. Items to make you proud, events to think about, golden nuggets to make you smile when that annoying sound on your computer says, “you’ve got mail.” Welcome to Updates from Ben’s Pen, news you can use from The Segal Centre for Performing Arts.
Memorable Montreal
Greetings loyal readers and welcome to March 2k10 at the Segal Centre!
I'm delighted to start this issue off with talk of Old Wicked Songs, an extraordinary Segal Centre co-production with Théâtre du Rideau Vert. The Pullitzer Prize nominated play by Jon Marans ( who was our special guest at the latest Sunday @ the Segal) was performed this past February, in French, at Théâtre du Rideau Vert – with leading performances by Jean Marchand and Émile Proulx-Cloutier. And now, through March 21st, you can catch Marchand and Proulx-Cloutier doing the play in English, right here in the Segal Theatre. Both productions are directed by Martin Faucher.
It's not every day that plays come to life in French, in English, with the same actors, in back to back productions, in the same city. But it has here, in Montreal with the partnership of the Segal Centre and Théâtre du Rideau Vert. Extraordinary. Don't miss it.
